The NRP Group is the first repeat winner in the Building San Antonio Awards. Its contributions are huge in the real estate sector, and its projects are having an impact on San Antonio’s booming urban centers.

Among the many projects it’s been involved with across the city — including the Flats at River North, a mixed-use collaboration between The NRP Group and the San Antonio Housing Trust; and Trophy Oak, a 324-unit apartment complex in Cibolo — it was involved in two 2019 projects honored at the Building San Antonio Awards: Rio Lofts and The Salado at Red Berry.

The Salado at Red Berry includes 330 mixed-income units in East San Antonio. The project — which took collaboration, creativity and trust with a vast array of stakeholders and interests — has the potential to be a lynchpin for growth on the East Side.

The NRP Group, headquartered in Cleveland, entered the market in 2004 and has a significant operation in San Antonio. Following the death of its local leader Dan Markson in 2019, the group promoted from within for his replacement, Senior Vice President of Development Jason Arechiga, who had been with the company since 2012. The company’s Texas leadership team is rounded out by Debra Guerrero and Dan Hull. Guerrero is co-founder of NRP’s Texas office and its vice president of government affairs. Hull is executive vice president of construction and managing executive of NRP’s San Antonio office.

The NRP Group not only builds significant Class A, market-rate apartments, but it also does a major portion of its business in affordable housing. In San Antonio, the company operates almost as many affordable apartment complexes as it does market-rate ones. It has delivered more than 4,000 affordable apartments in San Antonio over the last 15 years.
