Science Building
Alta Architects designed the new UTRGV Science Building at the Edinburg Campus. The new facility provides additional capabilities for both research and teaching, incorporating the guiding principles established for the University to fully integrate next generation technology and customized learning to increase affordability and maximize student success and develop programmatic strength in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and health. As part of UTRGV’s effort to develop a first class medical school to ultimately improve the health of the community.
The new Science building was be designed for 21st century technologies and pedagogies supporting enhanced research and learning opportunities in a collaborative environment. The building provides space necessary to accommodate current and future needs to support a teaching and emerging research university comprising physical and life sciences with a special focus on biomedical research. The building provides approximately 112,000 gross square feet to accommodate current and future research investigators as well as additional instructional space in the form of teaching labs and seminar classrooms.
